Wow, November went by fast. Too fast actually. That may have something to do with the fact that I was on vacation for half of it….maybe, just a little. December is here. Bringing with it all the shiny, happy goodness of the season, my favourite season. Also, December must not be ignored since it is also my birthday month. I can’t believe I am going to be another year older on Monday. Where does all the time go?
Crafting is always more fun in December. Last year I made this wreath. I haven’t picked out any projects for this year yet but I am planning to soon. I know I am falling behind.
Don’t forget all the good movies. Now I now you are thinking about Christmas movies and I do love them I really do. That’s a whole other post. I just find a lot of great movies come out in the theatre around now too. I am going to count Mockingjay in with those in though it technically came out last month. I decided I wanted to go and see it for my birthday so I have been waiting. Not so patiently. So for me it will be a December movie. I also want to see the final Hobbit movie and Into the Woods.
Christmas shopping is a favourite of mine too. I love giving gifts. Thinking of the perfect somethings for the special people in my life. Not terribly fond of the mall but they shine it all up nice for me. Makes it a little easier to pretend everyone around me isn’t hideously annoying in one way or another. Some malls are better at it than others like the Dolphin Mall in Miami with their Frozen Ice Palace. I heart that mall.
Holiday parties are always a treat to look forward to. Scott and I even get to spend the night at a hotel after his Christmas party this year. That way when I turn into a pumpkin at midnight I won’t have too far to roll.
This picture of our tree cracks me up. It looks like it is too tall for our living room. It actually fits, I promise. The picture is just cut off funny on the top and I hadn’t straightened the top yet. I took it to send to my sister while I was still decorating. Because apparently when you live hundreds of miles apart you can still decorate together if you know how to take silly snaps and such. Oops.
Of course, there is always Christmas Day and New Years Eve. Spending time with family and all that jazz. Spending nights curled up by the fire with good book, movie and a glass of wine. Always wine. Red, white or mulled. Oh, especially mulled for this time of year. I should probably start making some right now.
What are some of your favourite things about this time of year? Have you got your decorating started/finished yet? How about that shopping list?
