Top 5 Okanagan Wineries

Wine touring season is sadly coming to a close here in the sunny Okanagan. I will definitely miss hitting the road on Sunday afternoons to pick a couple of bottles of our favorite wines or to discover new ones. It is time to stock up and hibernate for the winter. I say that as if there is no other way to get wine here. Of course, there is always the wine stores but there is something special about going to the source. Hearing all the stories about how and why the wine was made and meeting the people doing it. In honor of this, today I thought I would share my Top 5 Okanagan Wineries with you. In no particular order here they are…

Therapy Vineyards

Sometimes we wine because we want to celebrate something. Sometimes, it is because it is a day that ends in Y. Sometimes, the best thing at the end of long day is finally getting to sit back and wine down with glass of your favourite vintage. It can be so soothing, almost therapeutic. The folks at Therapy Vineyards understand and they have just what the doctor ordered.  The Freudian Sip is my favourite prescription from their Farmacy.  Click here to see how our last appointment went.

Misconduct Wine Co.

We were bad, very bad. Despite wanting to check out this winery and driving past it more times than I can count for the past couple summers we only got around to it this year. This was a huge mistake. Misconduct Wine Co. is a full-bodied winery just overflowing with character. I love everything about it. The bottle labeling and stories behind them are fantastic. Not mention that there wasn’t a wine there that I would kick out of  bed the glass. Even or especially the Misfit blend has found a permanent place in my wine rack. Join us on our first visit here.

Dirty Laundry

Dirty Laundry is by far my favorite winery to tour. The whole experience is just above and beyond. It really is a very good time. I absolutely love the decor, the staff is amazing. Don’t even get me started on the wine. This is a MUST stop place for anyone wine touring in the area. I am not going to talk out the wine here because I did an in depth review of Madams’ House already here.

Black Widow

Normally, I find spiders creepy but this Black Widow riding a bicycle at a my favorite winery always makes me smile. This winery will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the wine that turned me into a wino wine drinker. I will never forget that first glass of Pinot Gris. It was able to do what no wine before it had done. It was love at first sip. Although, I do still like it I have discovered a few others over the years that I enjoy even more. Their Gewurztraminer, Oasis and Schonburger are among the best of the best and always have me coming back for just one more bottle  glass. It is always the first stop for when the wineries open for the season and the last stop before they close.

Burrowing Owl

This winery wins all for best setting in my books. There is even a guest house here so you can move in make yourself at home for a night or two. Of course, Burrowing Owl has an amazing selection of wine to help you enjoy your stay or take home with you when you leave. I am particular to the Pinot Noir or Syrah here. The Merlot is quite a looker too. Want a closer look at this little piece of heaven?

There are so many that deserve some attention but this post has to end some time so there you have my Top 5 Okanagan Wineries. We are blessed to live in the most incredible place in the heart of Okanagan wine country. There are so many we haven’t even tried yet. I can’t wait to try them all.
