Let us go back down memory lane for another wine tour? Thanks, I didn’t think you would mind. Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort and Spa. is one of the big resorts in Osoyoos probably the biggest but don’t quote me on that. I had been wanting to check this place out for some time and I finally got my chance. The place is massive but I only took a few pictures of the area by the restaurant entrance. I would love to actually come and spend a night or two out here.
We had lunch on the patio. It was alright but they didn’t have much in the way of vegetarian options. I had soup and it was good but not really what I was in the mood for. We ate said food on this patio and dreamed of spending the weekend here the whole time. Those beach chairs are all around a sparkly little pool which was too shy to get in any of the shots apparently….Oops.
There is NK’MIP Cellars Winery on site as well. We walked through but were too full from lunch to taste anything at that second so we decided to put it on the “comeback” list.
I had a glass of wine with my soup since well wine touring and all. Apparently, I seemed to have lost the pictures of the food and wine from this place. Hashtag bad blogger. Anyway, this glass…..Oh this glass. It was a Gewurtztraminer from Young and Wyse, a winery that I hadn’t heard of before. I am partial to the G wine. When I saw that it was $15 a glass I nearly spat out my water. Ummmm, really the other two whites were $7 and $8. WTF. I wouldn’t pay $15 for a glass of wine at lunch. Or would I? So I asked the waitress why and could it possibly be worth that much? She asked if I would like to sample it. As if I would ever turn away free wine. Of course. I tried it and then she brought me a full glass. Not only that, it was so good we googled the winery and drove straight there after.
Only 10 minutes down the road and we are at Young and Wyse. Oh, how I love the Okanagan. Let me count the wineries. We spent some time talking with them and found out their story. It was a bit of a coincidence that we ended up there. We had planned on hitting Burrowing Owl Winery on the way home. Apparently, Stephen Wyse is the son of the people from BOW and he decided to go out on his own with partner Michelle Young and start their own family vineyard. The symbol for Y&W is a Black Sheep because he left the family fold to become the competition. All in good fun though as they say there are no hard feelings. I thought it was neat how everything is so connected that we would end coming here.
I felt a little rude taking pictures during the actually tasting because he was talking so much the whole time. So there are none but that is ok with me. Live in the moment. Right? Right. We bought another couple of bottles here for a mere $20 a bottle feeling a little gouged earlier. Then we headed out to Burrowing Owl to see what there was to see and taste what there was to taste. Let me tell you this place did not disappoint. Same time, same place next week to see what heaven in the Okanagan looks like. Ok? Ok.
